Some states require licensing for representatives selling alcohol on your behalf. You can manage your solicitor licenses on the Solicitors page. The license numbers you provide are used in other ShipCompliant features - for example, on reports, product registrations, and other documents.
You'll access solicitor licenses from the Solicitors page.
Setting up solicitors and required licenses
- In ShipCompliant, go to Setup and click Solicitors.
- Click Add Solicitor.
- Fill in your solicitor's information, then click Continue.
- Select the working regions your solicitor is active in. For each state, choose the type that reflects your solicitor's role. Then click Add new.
- Once you've added your solicitors, click the Required quick filter. You'll see all licenses required for each solicitor, based on the working regions you selected.
- Some states don't require licenses for solicitors. In the table, you'll see these states show as Not required. In these cases, you don't need to add any license information.
- If there's a license available for that state, you can still add one, if you choose.
- You can ignore a required license if you don't want to see it on the Solicitors page. Hover over the license you'd like to ignore, then click Ignore on the right.
Editing your solicitors and licenses
- In ShipCompliant, go to Setup and click Solicitors.
- Find the solicitor you'd like to edit on the table and click their name.
- Edit the solicitor's information, select or deselect working regions, or change solicitor type. Then click Save changes.
Note: when you add a license for a solicitor in a new working region, that state will be added to the solicitor's working regions as the default solicitor type. You can edit working regions from the solicitor edit drawer.
- To add a required license or edit an existing license, you can double click on the table to enter edit mode, then enter the License Number, Effective Date, and Expiration Date.
- Click anywhere on the table to exit Edit mode. Your license information will be saved automatically.
Alternatively, add a license from the top menu.
- Click Add license.
- Start by selecting the state your license is for. Then add the rest of your license information. Fields marked with a red asterisk are required. Click Add license when you're done.
- If your license does not expire, click Does not expire when setting the expiration date.
Filtering for licenses
You can filter the licenses you see on the table with quick filter buttons, or by selecting additional options on the right.
- On the Solicitors page, see licenses that are required, expiring soon, or need renewal by clicking the quick filter buttons.
- Click the filter icon on the right to open additional filter options.
- Select licenses you want to filter for, then click Apply.
- When there are filters selected, you'll see the number of active filters appear on the filter icon.
- Clear filters from the table by clicking the filter icon, then clicking Clear.
Understanding license statuses
License information you provide is used in other ShipCompliant features - for example, on reports, product registrations, and other documents. Here's what the different automatic license statuses you might see in ShipCompliant mean.
- Approved: Your license is active and isn't close to expiring.
- Expiring soon: Your license's expiration date is approaching in the next 90 days.
- Needs renewal: Your license's expiration date is approaching in the 30 days.
- Expired: Your license's expiration date has passed.
- Required: This license is required based on the shipping preferences you indicated in the wizard, and you haven't added its information to your account yet.
